Caher island is an uninhabited island, off County Mayo. The Island has ruins of an early christian monastery founded by seafaring seventh century monks, with the remains of a chapel in an enclosure and a number of carved cross slabs. On the 15 August every year, weather permitting, Inishturk islanders organise a pilgrimage to Caher.
